How it works

  1. Add your zone and your primary server.
  2. Allow zone transfer (AXFR/IXFR) from our published transfer address.
  3. Add ns.otterdns.net to your NS set and registrar delegation.
  4. Optional: send DNS NOTIFY to our transfer address so updates propagate in seconds.

Your primary stays authoritative. OtterDNS never edits records, never signs your zone, and never acts as a primary.
