What we collect, what we don't, and who else is involved.

What we don't collect

We don't log, meter, or analyse the DNS queries our nameservers answer for your zone. There's no per-customer traffic dashboard because there's no per-customer traffic data. We don't sell anything to anyone, and we don't run third-party trackers or advertising on this site.

What we store

Why we store it

To run the service you asked for: transferring and serving your zone, showing you its status, emailing you when a zone needs attention, and billing paid plans.

Who else is involved

Where your data is handled

BastNET operates from Montreal, Quebec, and your account data is managed from there. Our nameservers run in several countries and that footprint can change as we add or move capacity — so your zone's public DNS records, which are public information by design, are served from outside Canada too. Stripe and our email provider process data in their own regions under their respective terms.

Cookies

A session cookie to keep you logged in, and a security cookie that protects forms against cross-site requests. Your light/dark preference is stored in your browser and never sent to us. No analytics or advertising cookies.

Keeping and deleting

We keep your data while your account exists, and delete it when you delete the account. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require; server logs are short-lived.

Your rights

You can see and change your account details from your account page, and delete your account yourself at any time. For a copy of what we hold, or any other request, email contact@otterdns.net and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this statement in a way that materially affects you, we'll email the address on your account before it takes effect.
